lilies

Whiteliliessm

I just can't take a good picture today. I wanted to show one of my favorite flowers though...casablanca lilies. They are so beautiful and I loooooove how they make the whole house fragrant. Would make a good painting subject, no?

It's too bad cut flowers are so expensive because I would have them around all the time. I remember how easy it was in SF to buy fresh flowers. After work I could just cross a street and there would be a flower vendor. I mainly splurged on roses and I remember riding home on BART and people couldn't help but stare at them. And at work too it was really important to have flowers in our swanky downtown office. Every week all of us assistants would have a vase of flowers delivered to our desk. Usually it was a single stem of something but my favorite was when they would be peonies. The main reception desk would get a really nice arrangement and that would usually be the favorite subject of discussion every Monday. Then every Friday they'd be removed and if the flowers were particularly spectacular people would try to get dibs on who could take it home. Ah! Now I'm reminded of how great my workplace was in SF!

cats galore!

She doesn't even know it, but Mia has quite a growing collection of stuffed cats. The big HK pillow head, the HK in aqua, and the stripy HK were all from May and June. The small bunny HK, the green jumper HK and Winkipinki in plaid (remember her? "I love fish but not in a dish. Fish are friends, not food.") are reminders of my old Sanrio days. And lastly Chococat with her mug of coffee I bought for Mia just before she was born. I have a big HK made of the same material as the head pillow but it's turned yellow. I'm wondering if I can wash it? Well, Mia's mascots has been cats since Lola came into our lives. Secondary mascots are birds, butterflies and flowers. I know it sounds funny. It gives me a reason to buy cute stuffed cats though!

What about Aidan? Well, his are stars! That's why he has stars on his ceiling and why I call him Aidanstar! The reasoning for this is because when we moved down from SF, along our drive, I saw a shooting star and I've always associated it with Aidan and bringing us good luck.
