Happy Halloween!

When I was little I thought it was fun to dress up, but now that I'm a Mom I think it's even more fun to watch your children get dressed up! Aidan wanted to be a robot, but instead he ended up with a last-minute choice of being an "evil knight".

Adnmiahalloween1sm_103107

He was playing the part here :) I had been gearing Mia up for Halloween, telling her she was going to be a Pumpkin Princess. I thought it was perfect since Allan calls her Pumpkin sometimes. Look at her brushing off Aidan's scaryness. Pshaw. It's only Kuya.

Adnmiahalloween2sm_103107

Apparently, this Pumpkin Princess has a special power of her own. She can steal your evil mask and then attack you with a stick! Halloween is so fun!

Adnmiahalloween3sm_103107

Then we went trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. Aidan kept running ahead of us because he was so excited, but Mia was a terribly slow walker. She wouldn't let people put candy in her basket and after six houses she quit. She already got what she was after anyway. A lollipop! Allan took her home while I walked around with Aidan for a few more stops.

Adnmiahalloween4sm_103107

It was perfect. Not a whole lot of candy, but it's OK because we still have half a bowl left over from tonight. Next year I want to decorate a little bit. I'm so bad with putting out decorations yet I really appreciate what some of our neighbors did to make their houses look spooky!

She's 2

My girl turned two years old on the 19th. Mentally, she's grown so much and right now she's experiencing this language explosion. When she doesn't want her diaper changed, she runs away saying, "Don't make me!" One time when she didn't want to eat she told me, "I'm not hungry. I'm so tired. I'm going to sleep." And then she proceeded to lie down on the floor, closed her eyes, and made these fake little snoring sounds. What a ham! For her party we bought these bling-y plastic rings to put in the pinata. She had put one on her finger and a little later I heard her say, "I don't want this ring. It's loose!" How does the she know the word "loose"? Where did these sentences come from all of the sudden?! I could go on and on with the things she says. I think it's just surprising, not only to me but to other people who hear her, because she's still so small. She's around the 10th percentile in height and weight for her age so she doesn't even look like she's two.

Her birthday party was pretty much the same as last year, only this time instead of a chocolate fountain we had a crockpot full of nacho cheese. Everyone loved having nachos. The theme for her party was Dora The Explorer (the next best thing to Yo Gabba Gabba!) so she was given lots of Dora stuff. Here she is with the pinata and it was so cute because she would just barely hit it with the stick.

The jumper was clearly her favorite. This girl loves to jump.

So because I'm talking about her birthday I'll post some cards I made for Prima. They're all up in my gallery over at the site, but just in case you haven't seen them...

Also, I just posted my first challenge at the KI Memories blog. I don't know why but I'm so nervous about it! I just hope someone takes me up on it! :)

I wanted to say too that if you love Prima and/or KI Memories products you should visit the blogs! Prima does a "Pick Of The Week" from the comments that are left on the posts and if you get picked you'll receive a nice package from them! KI has giveaways every so often too! In any case, you'll be sure to find some inspiration on the blogs!

Happy Saturday

Sprinkles102707_sm

Why? Because we had Sprinkles cupcakes and milk for breakfast. Yum!

Sprinklesb102707_sm

And we got to experience it with these fabulous people: Jamie and Mike and Michelle and Olivia and Kyan. (Thanks, hubs, for going across the street to get this shot.)

Dsc_00543_sm

3/7ths of the Girlahs on Rodeo Drive, plus Michelle's two cuties! I still can't get over how adorable they are and I love how they were so ready for the camera!  I wish I could've stayed longer, but I know there'll be more opportunities! Our next outing might be antique shopping so I'm very excited!

After we left Beverly Hills, we wanted to grab a quick bite and we ended up at Greenhills (a Filipino market) in Ontario. We were standing in line and saw people taking pictures but I couldn't see why. Then Allan tells me, "It's Vhong Navarro!" He's a Filipino actor/host/singer/dancer and he's one of our favorites. I didn't know that he was here for a concert. Anyway, Allan got the camera from the car and snapped this shot at the front of the store. Oh yeah!

Aidangreenbelt_sm

Immediately after lunch Aidan had another belt test and this time he broke two boards doing the back jump kick. He's a green belt now! Halfway to black belt! I'm soooooo proud.

And then at home while he was eating candy Aidan's loose tooth came out. Picture to come later :)

I'm usually a fashion don't and I'd rather not when it comes to shopping for clothes so I live vicariously through my baby girl. I love finding cool shirts and this one reminded me of the boom box my Dad gave me when I was in 6th grade and me in my bedroom dancing to Prince surrounded by all the posters I cut out from Tiger Beat

Miabootssm_10907

And these boots are from Target! I had to get them for her because she likes to water the plants with me and her feet eventually get all wet when she wears her Crocs. She loves to put them on but she had a hard time walking with them at first. She's not use to such tall shoes!

Oh, tonight she threw such a tantrum and it was all because she fell down from stepping on the toys she scattered all over the floor. She started throwing them around and then she rolled around the floor crying. We just left her alone and eventually she came over to me and put her head on my lap. She's so emotional! Yeah, I can hear Allan right now..."Because she takes after you!"

Adnfootballsm_10907

Aidan is starting to think about how he looks now. He wishes he could make his hair go "sideways" but his hair just won't cooperate.

He cried the other day because we told him that he might change schools. We have a public elementary school that's only 10 minutes away from our house, but instead he goes to a private Catholic school that takes us about 50 minutes to an hour roundtrip. Right now, we're leaning towards just letting him stay where he is. He's happy there. He's doing wonderfully well with his studies. He loves his friends. It's just that hour-long drive that gets to me. But, really, it's not as if I have to be anywhere else. I think I'm just making something out of nothing.

And I think that today was probably the worst sick day, but Aidan made me this lovely card. He knows that one of the things I love best are his drawings.

cough cough

I'm sick and I hate being sick because I can't get anything done. I spent two hours watching this movie and it was killing me having to just sit there. I kept thinking about how I could've been burning some calories on the treadmill. So to keep myself busy (because the movie wasn't that interesting) I decided to make a happy list.

1. My "Melancholy" playlist in iTunes.

2. My current favorite song there: Somewhere Only We Know by Keane

2. One of my favorite blogs: Posie Gets Cozy

3. The 7Gypsies Revolving ATC Holder sitting on my desk right now. I'm excited to make some ATC's!

4. New favorite font found in MS Word: Futura Lt BT

5. Fruit-flavored beef jerky

6. Hawaiian papayas

7. Looking forward to watching Elizabeth: The Golden Age

8. The backyard is clean.

9. Online shopping

10. Maintaining my weight. After so many years of yo-yo dieting I can see a little light at the end of the tunnel. And I feel like I've been at a rest point for too long so it's time to get up and go again...after I'm not sick anymore, that is.

Found this at the One Good Bumblebee blog. Thought it would be fun to do! You should try too!

jump jump jump. She looks like she has Dora hair.

Miadollssm_10307

Her dollies. Most of the time she likes to pretend to put them to sleep. She'll say to them, "You sleep now," and then she'll put a blanket over them.

Miaelmosm_10307

This is her cute pose.

All of the sudden she was different today. We were at Target and she kept crying until we let her down from the cart. She became the instigator, climbing onto a display chair and telling Aidan, "Come here, Kuya. Sit here." Then she was saying, "Go here! Go here!", insisting that we go down the bathroom decor aisle all because she saw a Dora wastebasket. At the register she wouldn't let go of this yo-yo. I had to carry her out of the store and she was crying with huge tears pouring out as if she couldn't live without that yo-yo.

During bedtime she became this crazy, little wild thing jumping, spinning and dancing. I would tell her to lie down and she'd say, "I want to play!"

Allan was there and we were asking her what her name was. Then he pointed to his nose and asked her, "What's my name?" She said, "Nose!" Then she blurted out, "Poop! Your name is poop!" I swear I did not teach her that and I have no idea where she got that from! But that had us snickering.

When she wakes up in the morning she thinks of Yo Gabba Gabba! After she watches Yo Gabba Gabba! she asks to watch it again. Then again later in the afternoon. And once again when Aidan gets home. Then again around dinner time. She has a serious obsession. Sometimes I just want to see how many shows she'll watch in a row until she gets tired of them, but I don't think I could stand it.

Miafacesm_10307

One thing that thankfully hasn't changed is how wonderfully sweet she can be. After she got her sillies out she put her pink kitty blanket on top of me and told me, "Sweet dreams, Mommy."

And...squeeeeeeeeee!! Big thanks to my Girlah, Amber, for pointing this out otherwise I probably would have never seen it. That's my layout of Mia on the October Afternoon ad in Creating Keepsakes!
